Autism Association Australia says its understandable families who have young children with autism are worried about future support systems.

Thousands of children aged eight and with lower support needs will be among the 160 thousand people to move off the NDIS.

The yet to be implement Thriving Kids Kids Scheme is set to cater to those children.

Speaking to National Radio News, Autism Association Australia CEO and Founder, Nicole Rogerson, says there are uncertainties about the program.

If those children go on to have additional needs once they pass that age, or if Thriving Kids can't meet their needs because they have more profound disability, then those kids will be in the NDIS. So that all sounds really good. It's just that Thriving Kids isn't up and running yet, and it will just make a lot of families nervous at the moment.
