He is passionate about advocating for dignified treatment of chronic pain in the medical community, which often lacks compassionate and has for many devolved into a "Pain Crisis". Dean has set up and moderates the “Don’t Punish Pain” Reddit forum which is associated with "The Don't Punish Pain Rally" an organisation in the US that focuses on advocating access to pain relief as a human right.
