Speaker 4 1:48
Today we are starting with our raising our voices, radio on chat. To keep us on the airwaves, we need to raise about $700 the 700 is our target to reach. Please dig deep
Amanda 2:12
three CR your state and your voice, and we need the money to keep us live on air apart from being a radio fun, you guys also hidden disabilities as well, pal and we've got some some information to share with you guys at the Radio land.
Speaker 4 2:38
Why is the radio fun important?
Speaker 3 2:42
Thanks, James. Well, it's really important because three CR as a community radio station and we as a show are on three CR, and the radio station doesn't just run on air, although we have airwaves that we that we broadcast through, but we need some money to help us. So that's why I think it's important. And we all need money, including our little show that we've got, what about you, Chris,
Speaker 2 3:22
I think it's important because of how we gotta get a point of view across. And also we did like the money, and money isn't growing trees.
Unknown Speaker 3:35
And what about you? Amanda, it's
Amanda 3:41
for being a long time listening sponsored a three CR, and that goes back maybe 20 odd years, I don't know how long, but sometimes I feel like I'm part of the furniture. And three CR need your money, because we don't live off air. Would need money for power, maybe toilet paper, maybe new computer, or anything breaks down, we have to get a new object and pay for it. If we don't have money, the station won't exist. So I encourage you all folks out there, radio land anywhere else this goes around, the claim and that stuff. Donate Your CCR radio fund, because you can keep us on air plus raising our voices. So give, give, give that we may still live another century.
Speaker 4 4:36
Yeah, to keep us on the airwaves and keep raising our voices. Running for all of these reasons, you should donate to raising our voices. You can donate on the three CI websites, three ci.org.au, you can also go in person to donate as well. If. You can find a link on this Facebook page by raising our voices.

Amanda 6:04
ran today, also we're going to be talking about the sunflower project and hidden disabilities. Let's talk about the hidden disabilities in the sunflower project. What have you heard about this project?
Speaker 3 6:28
So that the sunflower Initiative is a global scheme, and it's there to support people with hidden disabilities. So it's pretty amazing that it's a global scheme. It's only been going since, I think, 2016 Wow, yeah. And so it's pretty incredible that it's, it's been so well taken up as a scheme in terms of having a hidden disability, a sunflower lanyard would be helpful. I need to think about when I need help, and accepting help when I need it, because quite often enough, I It's a bit hidden. There was a situation a few weeks ago, when I was at Travelers aid and I had I'm totally blind, and I had my guide dog with me, and he needed a drink, yep, and I went into travelers aid at Flinders Street, and the person there asked me if I needed any help, And I said, No, but then I thought about it for two seconds, and I said, actually, it would be really helpful, because it just meant that I could get out of there faster. So the man helped me with getting the dog bowl out of the my bag and to give grant my guide dog a drink, yep, and by him doing that, it just meant that I didn't have to stuff around by getting my bag off my back and that ball out of out. And I was just a bit of a I just took the weight off by having somebody give me a hand to do it, rather than me having to do it. So it's not much just my total blindness, it's I've also got paralysis, and that's that's a hidden disability, because people don't often see that. They just see me with the dog, with my blindness, and then they know that I'm blind, but they don't often know that my right hand is paralyzed, so that's my hidden disability. So I need to get one of these lanyards. What about you,
Amanda 8:50
Amanda, some of the stuff I had to go through is some people will will offer me a seat and and and some people will not move off their backside. Some people do not see my cane. And some people jump over my cane rent some. Some people can't see me coming. Some, some people very rude. And I was in a shop learning code, and the lady talking the standing right right in front of me, but she was talking on her phone, so I tapped her twice on the shoe with my time she moved to the right a bit more, and I said, good. Some people don't know how to move, so you gotta use your good vibes not to ruffle people up at the Some people give you a rough time, too. Mm.
Speaker 4 10:03
Yes, everyone in Melbourne has a hidden disability. And I think everyone needs to get the these. Everyone needs to get one.
Speaker 3 10:17
Do you have a hidden disability? Dreams?
Unknown Speaker 10:21
I have a hidden disability. Yes,
Unknown Speaker 10:24
yeah, what's that? What? What is? What's your hidden disability?
Unknown Speaker 10:30
I'm not sure, actually, yeah,
Speaker 3 10:35
what do people they see your walker, and then when they get to know you they might pick up on some other things, yeah, what do you think they might I mean,
Speaker 4 10:48
I struggle with reading. I also, I also walk with that
Speaker 3 10:57
lead virtually. Yeah, that's why you have a walker. Yes? Yeah, yeah. So, because you struggle with reading, they might not know that. Hey, because people don't see that, they don't know that. Yeah, so, so that's hidden. So you might people might not know that until they get to know you, or if you tell them. So because of that, that we call that a hidden disability, don't we?
Speaker 4 11:27
Yes, everyone in Australia needs to get a lanyard anyway. I think, yeah,
Amanda 11:39
hidden disabilities, I've got a number of hidden disabilities, and they don't show on the outside, but they're definitely part of me. You can't take take my disabilities out of me or me got there's a way that I come in this world. Pal, I'm still fighting to be alive and on on this earth. Pal, yeah, that's by Hey people under their orders, where I've started wearing my thing, but it's going to take whole while to accept. But the education, it's the key, Yep, yeah.
Speaker 3 12:31
And sometimes we need to actually tell people, don't we, that we've got these disabilities. What about you, Chris? What do you think? Nothing to add. Do you have a hidden disability? I do, yeah, what? What can you tell us more about it? Autism? Autism, yes, yeah. And that, can you tell us more about that?
Unknown Speaker 12:58
I'm still learning about it,
Speaker 3 13:01
yeah, yeah. And what do people see when they see you? Because I can't see you, I'm totally blind. What do people see?
Speaker 2 13:12
That's a normal person, really, yeah.
Speaker 3 13:17
So it's not until they get to know you, yep. What kind of things would you say to people I don't know about your hidden disability?
Speaker 2 13:30
I know because I don't tell anyone, Whoa,
Speaker 3 13:35
yeah, so that's your choice, isn't it? Yeah, you can tell people you whether you've got a disability or not? Yeah? Yeah, that's, I think that's a really good point.
Speaker 4 13:47
There are many people out there with hidden disability session. It's fun to read out a few donations, I think,
Unknown Speaker 13:59

coming back to talking about hidden disabilities. Here are some examples of hidden disabilities that the sun flower project can help. Okay, there's hearing impairment or blindness, although, no, not blindness because people can see that you're blind, usually, yeah, because you've got a cane or a guide dog, but yeah, wow. Or a learning disability, people don't know that because it's internal Yeah Or Yeah. What else is there? So there's autism or dyslexia or acquired brain injury, that's Yeah, and I've got that.
Speaker 4 18:56
Has anyone had a good experience wearing a sunflower lanyard and share a story, please.
Unknown Speaker 19:07
Chris,
Speaker 2 19:10
well, the story is actually quite good, because I went to the the on the airport to the Gold Coast, and the staff there really, really nice and friendly and as if you and I asked me if I if I need any help, so I guess special treatment,
Unknown Speaker 19:31
that's really good. Yeah, you're wearing the sunflower lanyard.
Speaker 2 19:38
Yeah, and they asked me if I want to go on first of the plane before everybody else. There you go. Yeah, that's my story. The same for a disability project about people with disability who have got hidden disabilities to make people aware that people in the community may need. Help?
Speaker 3 20:00
Yeah, so Chris, can you tell us what the sunflower lanyard look like?
Speaker 2 20:06
It's got a sunflower on it, and then it also has got like a tag where you have things like disability, whether or not it's the elixir or autism or whatever type of disability, if you've got what people can see and then people know that you need help.
Speaker 4 20:29
Where can you get the land guards from?
Unknown Speaker 20:32
