Wallara.

Wallara have been supporting people with disabilities to live meaningful lives since 1959. Wallara delivers amazing support services to over 400 people from 15 sites in Melbourne’s southeast. Our services include accommodation, educational programs, supported employment and 1:1 supports.

While providing practical and emotional support for people with disabilities will always be our primary focus, driving social change in the community has become increasingly important to Wallara’s mission. We recognise that one of the biggest barriers inhibiting people with different abilities from employment and community engagement is people’s attitudes.

In 2012, Wallara launched a video production studio called Wallara Productions, with the goal of promoting inclusion and inspiring change in the community. Using a second-hand analogue camera and a computer with the processing power of a calculator, we began capturing personal stories and training videos. Our focus has always been part inspiration and part education, celebrating people’s abilities and achievements with beautiful imagery and moving music.

To date, Wallara Productions have produced over 500 videos, 7 television shows and featured in film festivals around the world. We have won awards for excellence in advocacy and rights promotion and over 1 million people have watched our videos with a positive message of inclusion.
