Ashley Apap.
Ashley
Apap is a Melbourne/Naarm based writer/comedian whose work focuses on melding
accessibility, silliness and sincerity. She recently made her professional
acting debut in the new Malthouse Theatre work “Telethon Kid” and was a part of
the producing team of Melbourne’s beloved alternative comedy room Hairbrush
Comedy. Her debut Melbourne International Comedy Festival solo show
"Ouch!" was nominated for the 2022 Golden Gibbo Award to sold out
crowds and she's since been performing her high energy stand-up, sketch, improv
and musical comedy around Australia.
A recipient of the 2024 Adelaide Fringe Fund, her next show will be a continuation of her journey to dissect her disability experience via performance, this time through an hour of stand-up. She currently co-runs alt/standup night Coaster Comedy and can be found displaying her unique sense of humour there on the first Wednesday of every month. Classified by The Age as having “great comic potential” and “a voice not often heard”, Apap is a breath of fresh air in the Melbourne comedy scene.
